Ajanta Caves – India

The Ajanta Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Maharastra, was a glorious sight to behold! Such splendour, grandeur!

Like the Ellora Temples, they are carved out of bedrock granite, not build by adding anything!! Everything you see within the caves is carved out.

Built in a period when both the Buddha and the Hindu gods were simultaneously revered in Indian culture, with painting techniques similar to European fresco technique, these 30 spellbinding caves surrounded by and around wild nature were initially serving as secluded monsoon retreats for monks, and over time, has evolved into a major center for Buddhist intellectual pursuit and artistic expression.

We were so delighted, to be there to drink this divine beauty, along with other enthusiasts, Buddhists, monks and peoples who came from different parts of India and in the world to revel in this marvellous site of Spirit. Blessed be, this treasured legacy of the ancients, that continue to serve up wonder in the world. Thank you Mother India.
