In 591 CE, Mary Magdalene was discredited as a repentant prostitute —creating shame instead of power, strip her of her spiritual leadership, a label the Catholic Church didn’t formally retract until 1969.

The Gospel of Mary, re-discovered in 1896, was never included in the Bible at all.

In Gnostic traditions, Mary Magdalene is revered not as a penitent sinner, but as an enlightened apostle, the privileged recipient of secret revelations, and Jesus’ closest spiritual companion

Gnostics elevated the feminine, and Mary Magdalene is often seen as a mortal manifestation of Sophia(Divine Wisdom). She represents the pursuit of hidden, esoteric knowledge.

Who was she really?

History couldn’t decide. Perhaps that is because she was never meant to fit into just one box. (Is any woman, really?)

Dearest woman let me share my impression of a 7-day women's retreat with LeeLiu that I attended on the paradisiacal island Koh Phangan. It was a magical vacation!
